Anadolu Medical Center (AMC) was named one of Newsweek's 2026 World's Best Hospitals, ranking among the top 250 globally out of more than 2,500 hospitals evaluated in 32 countries. The ranking, compiled annually by Newsweek in partnership with research company Statista, is based on recommendations from more than 85,000 medical professionals worldwide, hospital quality metrics, patient experience data, and a patient-reported outcome measure (PROMs) survey. Of the thousands of institutions evaluated, only 250 make the global list .
This ranking, now in its eighth edition, has become one of the most authoritative criteria in international healthcare. For patients making complex medical decisions abroad, a place on this list is crucial—it demonstrates that a facility meets standards recognized by both medical professionals and independent researchers worldwide.
Where global standards meet a patient-oriented approach.
Founded in 2005 as the medical division of the Anadolu Group, Anadolu Medical Center was created with an international mission: to provide world-class medical care to patients from around the world. Situated on a 42-acre site in Istanbul, just 15 minutes from Sabiha Gökçen Airport, the hospital provides convenient access for both local and international patients.
AMC has 201 inpatient beds, 37 intensive care beds, 8 operating rooms, and a specialized oncology center covering over 20 medical specialties. The hospital employs 1,300 staff, 180 of whom are dedicated exclusively to international patient care, coordinating treatment in 18 languages for patients from over 65 countries, making AMC the largest center for international patient care in Turkey and Europe.
Clinical excellence and global accreditation
Newsweek's recognition reflects the clinical and institutional foundation established over two decades. AMC distinguishes itself internationally with a number of distinctions:
-
The partnership with Johns Hopkins Medicine is the first and only partnership in Europe that ensures consistent compliance with recognized international standards in clinical care and patient safety.
-
JCI (Joint Commission International) accreditation is a globally recognized standard for the quality of medical care and patient safety in hospitals.
-
OECI (Organisation of European Cancer Institutes), ESMO (European Society for Medical Oncology), Planetree (Person-Centered Care) Gold and IASIOS (International Accreditation System for Interventional Oncology Services) are independently validated distinctions that place AMC among the select leaders in cancer care and improving patient experience worldwide.
-
Leadership in radiation therapy: first hospital in the region to implement the CyberKnife system (2005) and one of the first five in the world to implement MR linear accelerator technology.
-
Da Vinci XI robotic surgery is used in urology, thoracic surgery, general surgery, gynecology and cardiovascular surgery.
-
Exclusive partnership with Mayo Clinic in the field of advanced radionuclide therapy (Lu-177 and Ac-225).
-
A comprehensive cancer center offering diagnostics within 48–72 hours, weekly multidisciplinary tumor boards, and a full range of supportive care.
The track record speaks for itself.
Over more than twenty years of operation, Anadolu Medical Center has created something that rankings can measure but cannot fully capture: consistently high quality medical care for patients who travel long distances to receive it. Thousands of patients from over 65 countries choose AMC for diagnosis and treatment, often for complex or rare conditions for which local capabilities were limited.
